We have an important reminder for students and families of students in the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) remote learning programs. The Ministry of Education provided updated direction earlier this year to school boards for the 2022-23 school year which impacts:

  • Remote learning programs
  • E-Learning courses

What Has Changed for Students Living Outside Ontario

As a result of this Ministry direction, as of September 1, 2022 students living outside of Ontario will no longer be able to enroll in remote learning programs or e-Learning courses.

All parents and caregivers of students enrolled in these programs for the 2022-23 school year will be required to complete an attestation. This will confirm their residency in the province of Ontario. They will need to provide proof of address in-person, which can include:

  • Rental or Purchase agreement
  • Current utility or phone bill
  • Current property insurance bill
  • Current tax bill
  • Government document (i.e. Service Ontario, Canada Revenue Agency)
  • Bank statement

Please note that we are not able to accept a driver’s license as proof of address.

Residency must be confirmed by September 7, 2022 to confirm a student’s eligibility for enrolment in remote learning programs.

How to Provide a Residence Attestation

Parents and caregivers can provide proof of residence at their child’s home school. Please call or email to book an appointment.

As per Ministry requirements, documentation is to be submitted in person by the parent or caregiver.
