It is with a very heavy heart that the Hillcrest community mourns the loss of Suzanne Howlett, after a brave battle against cancer.  She passed on her 50th birthday on May 26, 2022. Suzanne joined Hillcrest Public School in March of 2010, where she served as an Educational Assistant.  When not at work, she was busy raising her two children here in Hespeler Village.  Suzanne loved reading, animals (especially cats), nature and gardening.

Suzanne was a deeply caring educational assistant who was dedicated to supporting students and always went above and beyond to get to know the students’ academic needs and their unique individual traits.  She was passionate about supporting Hillcrest’s most vulnerable students.  Staff and students appreciated how she would burst into song and how she always had the biggest, best smile.  She always made students and staff feel valued and loved.

Our thoughts are with Tim, Makayla, Spencer and her extended family.

In honour of Suzanne Howlett the flags at Hillcrest and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half mast this week.
